Allegro Software Development Demo is Praised
BOXBOROUGH, MA (March 25, 2002) Allegro Software Development Corporation – The following is an exerpt from VDC’s Embedded Systems Industry Bulletin – March 2002:
“The best demo we saw was one we bet you missed. Allegro Software Development had a little display highlighting their embedded web server technology using a Lego house with lights and sensors that allowed you to remotely control the lights and monitor the status of the doors. The interesting thing was that both its standard HTTP web server and its new UPnP based server were attached to the same little house. The difference was dramatic. The real time updating of the UPnP system contrasted with the need to constantly refresh the browser on the other system. This demo had all the features that we at VDC think are effective:
- It was simple, but made its point (we see too many highly abstract demos).
- The demo was based on actual application (in this case, home monitoring and control).
- It was tangible (nothing like getting your hands on something, even for a minute).
- It worked (few things are worse than a demo that fails, though we see that a lot).”
